Privacy Policy — Glance

Glance (“the app”) is a local camera viewer for Android phones, tablets, and Android TV / Google TV. It lets you watch the live video from IP cameras you already own on your own Wi‑Fi network. This policy explains what data the app handles and what it does not.

Short version: Glance keeps everything on your device. We run no servers, we have no account system, and we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data.

What data Glance stores

To connect to your cameras, the app stores the connection details you enter:

• Camera name, network address (IP/host) and ports
• Camera username and password
• RTSP stream paths and ONVIF port

This information is stored only on your device, encrypted at rest using Android’s EncryptedSharedPreferences (AES‑256). It is never uploaded anywhere. You can delete any camera at any time from the app’s Settings screen, and uninstalling the app removes all of it.

What Glance sends over the network

• To your cameras (local network only): the app connects to the cameras on your Wi‑Fi to discover them and to play their video/audio streams. Camera discovery uses standard local‑network protocols (ONVIF, mDNS, SSDP and brand‑specific probes).
• Phone → TV setup (optional, local network only): if you choose to copy your camera list from your phone to your Android TV, the transfer happens directly between your two devices over your Wi‑Fi and is end‑to‑end encrypted (AES‑256‑GCM). The encryption key is exchanged via an on‑screen QR code and is never sent over the network.

Glance contacts no external or cloud servers. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third‑party data‑collection SDKs in the app.

Microphone and camera permissions

• Microphone: Glance does not use your device’s microphone. Any audio you hear is part of the camera’s own video stream.
• Camera (phone only): used solely to scan the QR code during phone → TV setup. The scanned image is processed on the device and is never stored or transmitted. Android TV devices have no camera and do not request this permission.

Children

Glance is a general‑purpose utility and is not directed to children.

Data deletion

All data lives on your device. Remove individual cameras in Settings, or uninstall the app to erase everything. Because we store nothing on our side, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this page.
